Raw Brass is a beautilful material but, like oursleves, they need the occasional clean sometimes. It can tarnish over time but nothing a good polish cloth can't restore. Please do this every few wears to keep it so clean your mam would be proud.
Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc and will naturally tarnish when exposed to oxygen. Some people like the patina of tarnished brass and the tarnish is actually a protective layer for the brass, but if you want to get the shine of the new brass it's pretty easy to do with some typical household products.
-A dab of brasso on a dry cloth, wipe the excess black substance off and it will be good as new.
-Please do not wear during swimming or showering, it dasmages the lettering, treat it like a cat - it doesn't like to get wet.
